Request a book through OhioLINK

Text directions to request a book through OhioLink:

  1. On the library home page, use ALICE to search for the book you want.
  2. Looking at the ALICE record for “What the heck are you up to, Mr. President?” : Jimmy Carter, America’s “malaise,” and the speech that should have changed the country, I can see that the book is already checked out, since a due date is listed instead of a status of AVAILABLE.  
  3. Click on the Search OhioLINK button to look for a copy of this book in OhioLink.    
  4. The record for “What the heck are you up to, Mr. President?” : Jimmy Carter, America’s “malaise,” and the speech that should have changed the country in OhioLink shows that 6 libraries own this book.  Click on the link telling you the number of libraries to see a full list.  
  5. Scroll down and look for a copy with the status AVAILABLE.  As long as there is an available copy, you should be able to place a request through OhioLink.  
  6. To place a request, click on the link that says REQUEST THIS ITEM.  
  7. Choose Ohio University from the drop down list of schools and institutions 
  8. On the next screen, enter your name and PID (leaving off the P).  
  9. Then choose a pickup location – this can be any OU campus library, or even any OhioLINK school.  
  10. The last screen should be a confirmation of your request.  You will receive an email when your item is ready for pickup.  Make sure to bring your ID to the library where you have requested that the item be sent.  You can check out OhioLink items for three weeks, with up to four renewals, unless the item has gone overdue, or the lending school has requested that it be returned.  
  11. Remember to log off of OhioLink when you’re done, unless you want to request another item.
