This video shows how to search TV and radio broadcasts in Lexis Nexis.

Text directions for searching TV and radio broadcasts in Lexis Nexis:

  1. From the library home page, click on Info Tree
  2. In the General section, click on News and Newspapers
  3. Click on Lexis Nexis
  4. You will begin at the Easy Search by default, where you can search a limited number of aggregated sources, including a collection of TV and Radio Broadcast transcripts, including sources such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and NPR.  Click on the small blue “i” next to the source to see a complete list.
  5. To search the transcripts, check the box next to TV and Radio Broadcast Transcripts
  6. Use the Specify Date option to choose what time frame you will search – we use the previous week in this video
  7. Enter your search term(s) – such as microsoft
  8. Click the red Search button
  9. In your search results, use the Sources by Category or Publication Name links to view results from a particular title or category
  10. Click on the title of a transcript to see the full text  – your search results will be highlighted in red.
  11. To search just one source (instead of all of the radio and TV transcripts) you will need to click on the Sources tab at the top of the page
  12. Enter the search for your publication name – such as NPR – in the blue search box on the right.
  13. Check the box next to any of the sources that appear after your search. Repeat this process if you would like to find another source, such as MSNBC.
  14. When you have added all of the sources you would like to search, click the red OK-Continue button to return to the search page.  This time you will be using the Power Search.
  15. Choose your search dates, enter your search term(s) and click sarch to find transcripts from only the sources you have chosen.
  16. Remember to use the Ask a Librarians services from the OU Libraries if you cannot find what you need.
