Ellis Island logoDate: Thursday, May 22, 2008
Time: noon - 2 pm
Place: Alden 323
Instructor: Tim Smith

Are you interested in tracing your family tree using some of the many Web sites devoted to genealogy? This workshop will help the beginning researcher get started finding their roots.

We'll touch on some basic concepts such as soundex and gedcom files and explore a variety of sources, including: Online census materials, HeritageQuest Online, Ancestry.com, Rootsweb, and many more. Participants will have a chance to do some hands-on explorations of their own family lines.

For a preview of the sources covered in this workshop, you can look at the Subject Guide for Genealogy as well as the Genealogy section of InfoTree.

Pre-registration is NOT required. Just come to Alden 323 at the day and time listed above.
