On April 10, 2014 Ohio University students will fill the Convocation Center to share the results of their original research and creative projects at the Student Expo. Each year, the Libraries present awards in four categories: undergraduate, graduate, library affiliate (including student employees and students related to full time library staff members) and Librarian’s Choice, chosen the day of the Expo. The awards go to students who demonstrate exceptional use of library resources in their research and creative endeavors. The winning presentations will be displayed in the library after the event.
Last year, winners of the library awards conducted research on sustainable architectural design, the role of the brain in dinosaur evolution, civil rights research and the use of photography in Child Life studies.
In 2012, topics of the winning presentations included research on broadband access in the Appalachian region, the online presence of non-profit organizations promoting Chinese culture in the US, Palestinian literature, and solid state lighting as a tool for making Ohio University more green.
All students registered for the Expo will receive an email with application information for the Libraries’ awards, but participants may also apply directly online as well.
In addition to sponsoring these awards, the Libraries are also pleased to support the Student Expo through sponsorship of the t-shirts that all participants will receive.
We look forward to seeing the broad range of research topics presented at this year’s expo.
