During these bleak winter days, it may be difficult not to notice Ohio University Libraries’ new bright green and silver golf cart delivering materials around campus for the faculty and staff delivery service.
Up to 15 students work eight hours a week processing, packing, shipping, receiving and delivering books and materials from the shelves of University Libraries and through OhioLINK, a resource-sharing consortium of libraries, colleges and universities in the state of Ohio.
George Cheripko, senior library associate, supervises the student employees in Alden Library’s Patron-Initiated-Circulation (PCIRC), the branch of the Libraries that manages the faculty and staff delivery service. “Students really, truly, honestly are the backbone,” he said.
Be sure to wave the next time you see the Libraries’ little green cart putting around between buildings doing what the Libraries does best — delivering information to the Ohio University community.
