Excited about the upcoming Founders Day Symposium? Then you’ll also be eager to see its display counterpart, co-curated by Jeremiah Myers, PACE student for exhibits and Dr. Sara Harrington, head of arts and archives. The display will highlight pieces from the Libraries’ collections that complement “Founding Gardeners: The Revolutionary Generation, Nature, and the Shaping of the American Nation,” featuring New York Times best-selling author Andrea Wulf as keynote speaker.
“Wulf mentions Ohio University founder Manasseh Cutler in her book,” said Myers, a junior studying art history. Cutler had a keen interest in botany and agriculture, and the Libraries houses selections from his botanical research in the Mahn Center’s Manasseh Cutler Collection.
The display, located in the cases near Alden Library’s fourth floor stairwell, will include pieces from the Jeffersonian and Cutler eras and books with beautiful botanical illustrations. Be sure to take a look!
